Memorial plaque at Rozdolnoe railway station

The 85th anniversary of Rudolf Nureyev which was celebrated by the ballet world in March of this year, was dedicated to an unexpected event  for most fans of the outstanding dancer:  at the Razdolnoye railway station where Nureyev was born in a train,  a memorial plaque was erected to the “flying Tatar.”

The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation has supported the project.

“Here, at Razdolnoe railway station, on March 17 1938, the legendary Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev began his life journey to international stardom”
