Don Quixote by Rudolf Nureyev, in repertoire at La Scala since 1980 (with Nureyev protagonist next to Carla Fracci) is one of the real workhorses of the Company, applauded also in 2016 – the year that coincided with the 400th anniversary of Cervantes’ death – at La Scala and in Tokyo and in 2018, during the season, on tour in China and in La Scala’s first trip to Australia, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Nureyev’s birth and the 25th of his death.
To pay homage to the memory of the brilliant dancer and choreographer, his charismatic personality and inimitable artistic quality, even the recent streaming productions of the Scala ballet have taken up important extracts; now, after three years, it is finally back on stage in its entirety.
