Nureyev Festival in Ufa

On September 7-24, the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater will host the 12th Rudolf Nureyev International Festival of Ballet Art.

According to the press service of the theater, the next festival will be the longest and for the first time will include three gala concerts. They will feature the world stars of the ballet scene – leading dancers of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, the Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky Theaters, the Theater of the State Kremlin Palace, the Boris Eifman Ballet Theater, the Leonid Yakobson St. Petersburg Ballet Theater, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, the Musa Jalil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater, the Slovak National Theater and the Bavarian State Ballet.

The ballet troupes of Moscow, Yekaterinburg, and Chelyabinsk will be the guests of the event. The performances of the festival will include “Scheherazade”, “Chopiniana”, “Polovtsian Dances” in the night of the one-act ballets by the Natalia Sats Children’s Musical Theater (September 7 and 8), Swan Lake (September 11) and Legend of Love (September 13) performed by the troupe of the Bashkir Theater, with participation of the principal dancers of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and the Mikhailovsky Theater.

The Chelyabinsk Opera and Ballet Theater will present the productions of Carmina Burana (September 17) and Anna Karenina (September 19). The Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater will show viewers one-act ballets “Naiad and Fisherman. Suite ”,“ Order of the King ”(fragments), “Walpurgis Night ”(September 21).

Among the gala concerts of the festival are dedication nights “Gala-Tchaikovsky” (September 10) and “Gala-Nureyev” (September 15).

The festival closes on September 24 with a grand concert of the ballet art stars “Gala Grigorovich”, which will be dedicated to the outstanding Russian choreographer of the 20th century, the permanent honorary president of the International Festival of Ballet Art named after Rudolf Nureyev, its author and initiator of the event in Ufa, Yuri Grigorovich.
