OPERA DE PARIS – UNE SAISON TRES PARTICULIERE

France 5 is offering this Friday December 17th at 8.55pm the unpublished documentary “Paris Opera, A (very) special season” directed by Priscilla Pizzato. After three months of hiatus due to Covid-19, the young dancers, the star dancers, the corps de ballet are making a comeback behind the scenes at their home, the Opéra Garnier. The documentary will be followed at 22.05 by the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” by Rudolf Nureyev.

Each year, the Ballet de l’Opéra National de Paris, one of the most prestigious companies in the world, puts on nearly 180 shows for spectators from all over the world. Its dancers, used to dancing between five and seven hours a day, feed off work with rehearsals and choreographers, but above all on the stage and their relationship with the public. On March 12, 2020, the doors of the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille were closed. The pandemic has changed the way they practice their art. Never had the dancers stayed so long away from their rehearsal studios, then from the stage and the public.
