Dance and health

Health, wellbeing and safeguarding

When Rudolf Nureyev established his Foundation in 1975, his commitment to dance science and dancers’ health were enshrined in its core purposes.

Over recent years, the Foundation has supported Dr Moira McCormack’s research: the Development of a Musculoskeletal Profiling Tool to Guide Entry into Classical Ballet. The resume of her thesis is available here.

Today’s Foundation board continues to prioritise the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of dancers, working in partnership to enable and create the conditions that will advance knowledge and embed best practice across the dance world. The Foundation is prioritising support for networks and partnerships that are focussed on issues of core sector importance and that reflect and support a clear appetite across the dance world for new knowledge and improved ways of working.

The Foundation continues as a Patron of the International Association of Dance Medicine & Science.
New partnerships for the next three years will be announced in early 2025.
