Our Mission
The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation promotes the legacy of Rudolf Nureyev by working in partnership to support the next generation of talent, celebrate his contribution to dance and advance the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of dancers.
The Foundation was charged by Nureyev to protect his legacy for the future, safeguarding his personality, performance and choreographic rights. As the proud owner of Nureyev’s 15 choreographies, we work with our agency partner, Les Editions Mario Bois, to license the ballets to companies around the world, ensuring they are performed to the highest possible standards and the widest possible audiences.
The Foundation perpetuates the memory of Rudolf Nureyev through the partners and projects we support and through the provision of this rich and accessible online repository of information celebrating Nureyev’s life, work and legacy.

Our History
The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation began life in 1975 as the Ballet Promotion Foundation, established by Nureyev during his lifetime with an eye to the future and his long-term legacy. His original intention was that the Foundation should promote the artform of ballet, support the next generation of talent and perpetuate his memory.
In 1994, the Foundation adopted the name by which it is known today, the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation.
