This performance was part of a season given by The Royal Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House 7-26 May 1974. Nureyev made his debut in the role of Colas in La Fille mal gardée and went on to perform it at The Royal Ballet’s home in Covent Garden in July 1974.
The other item in the programme was Nureyev’s staging of The Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadère which was performed by Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell.
