Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev season

At the opening performance on 18 November Nureyev made his role debut in the Amazon Forest pas de deux, which was originally choreographed by Ashton for Margot Fonteyn and David Wall and premiered at the First Winter Festival of Dance in Rio de Janeiro the previous August.
The music for the piece was songs by Villa-Lobos and the soprano soloist in New York was Karen Lundry.
This performance was also the American premiere of Moments by Murray Louis.
