Nureyev Festival

1 June to 17 July 1976

This first ‘Nureyev Festival’ opened on 1 June 1976 with a Royal Gala performance of Nureyev’s production of The Sleeping Beauty performed by London Festival Ballet.  The season, presented by Victor Hochhauser, continued with further performances from London Festival Ballet as well as ‘Nureyev and Friends’, Scottish Ballet and other guest dancers.  Rudolf Nureyev danced at every performance.

The Festivals became a regular fixture in the London Coliseum calendar for the next decade, ending in 1985. When detailed programming information for these seasons is confirmed this record will be updated.
