This performance was part of DEKADA – Bashkirian Decade of Literature and Art, a festival designed to show the contribution of this region to the arts. Nureyev performed the Dance of the Cavalier from Act II.
Nureyev was selected to join the group of dancers from Ufa Ballet to represent Ufa in the Republic of Bashkir. He was unable to dance at the opening performance in May due to injury.
