The Nureyev Database — The Soldier’s Tale

In the early 1970s, Nureyev played the role of the Soldier in a recording of Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale, as part of a cast including Glenda Jackson (the Narrator) and Micheál Mac Liammóir (the Devil), conducted by Gennady Zaikowitsch. 

Nureyev spoke his lines in a heavily accented English and, despite only featuring in six of the 27 numbers, received star billing on the original album sleeve.
