Some of these ventures beyond ballet reflect his global celebrity, some his curiosity to try new things. Others more closely reflect his acquisitive nature and his expensive passion for collecting art, antiques and homes around the world.
Later in life, as his ageing body made ballet more difficult, Rudolf Nureyev built on his lifelong love for music to launch a new career, as orchestral conductor.
