Gala given by The Royal Ballet

This performance saw the premiere of Marguerite and Armand, specially created for Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev by Frederick Ashton, which became their signature piece. You can read more about it and their partnership here.
The performance was a gala in aid of The Royal Ballet Benevolent Fund and The Royal Ballet School Endowment Fund, and was held in the presence of HM The Queen Mother and HRH The Princess Margaret. The other pieces in the evening were Ballabille (excerpts), Night Tryst, the Grand Pas Classique and Façade.
